Event Details

Eric Baucom, Pastor Dave and Chuck Scherrei travel to Nigeria April 21-29, 2010 to continue our work with the Unreached People Group we have adopted.

April 21, 2010

April 22, 2010
The team has landed safely in Abuja, Nigeria and will head into town to their "hotel." They will spend the night there and catch a short flight tomorrow morning (tonight, our time) to Sokoto where they will meet up with Ezekiel. From there they will travel by car to the Songhai villages. The team thanks everyone for all their prayers.  (We welcome donations for our work with this UPG. April 23, 2010
"The adventure continues..."  There was a near riot at the airport when too small an airplane arives to go to Sokoto. We are now driving to meet Ezekiel."

Basically, the plane they had tickets for didn't have enough seats for everyone. So, what was supposed to be a one-hour flight became a seven-hour drive.

They finally did meet up with Ezekiel and are planning to follow him into one of the Songhai villages.

"Incredible day. Major wind/thunder/lightning/rian storm in the middle of the night. Met with district chief and town chief. Went very well. Followed by kids all day. Adamu loves the ipod. Spent time with him reading the Bible. He would read in Hausa and I would read the same passage in English. Awesome experience."  Eric

April 25, 2010 - "Working Hard"

These Nigerian kids are facinated by Dave, Eric and Chuck's white skin.

"Wild day in church. 2-hour English service and then a repeat 2-hour service in Housa. Meeting in the afternoon. 2 1/2 hour revival service at night. Too much food and not enough exercise. Very hot."

April 26, 2010
Now in a Songhai village not previously visited by Bob and Eric.. Ezekiel thought it would be a good place to visit, because the people are very open. "Hot. Mobbed by the kids - absolutely incredible. Very welcomed here. Mostly mud/adobe structures. Almost a full moon. Still gotta be 100+ degrees. Amazing trip."

April 27, 2010

The team is back in Sokoto for the night. Debriefing went well. Please pray for Chuck. He is not feeling well. The team will begin their trek home tomorrow morning. Please pray for safe travel.
