Over twenty-five people came out to work at the Kingdom Center Saturday, July 18, 2009. All ages were on-hand to clean and paint the eight rooms VMC has adopted in this project. Not afraid to dig right in, they washed walls, cleaned toilets, scraped old paint and brushed on new.
The Kingdom Center is a transitional living center in the making in downtown Ventura at the former location of the Center City Motel. Harbor Community Church has leased the property from a local owner and is partnering with the City and with area churches, including Ventura Missionary, to provide a center for thirty homeless families. By joining together, we
are able to pool resources to bring about a Christ-centered, faith-based approach to homelessness. The plan is to be fully operational by Christmas of 2009.

For the last couple of years, VMC has been working with the City of Ventura to address the issue of homeslessness in our community. We are committed to finding tangible ways to make a difference, and The Kingdom Center has afforded an opportunity to make an ongoing impact in the lives of those struggling in this tough economy.
VMC's first workday on this project was a great success. Trade professionals are needed to further prepare the property for occupancy. There will be an all churches praise and worship celebration for The Kingdom Center on August 29. Click here for details.
